7TH/8TH/9TH GRADE TRYOUTS

All 7th 8th and 9th grade girls in Herriman High School boundaries interested in playing volleyball this fall in the XSI League, we will be holding tryouts at Herriman High School at 5:00pm on Friday Sept. 2nd. Those making the team will be required to pay $200 for fees/officials/uniforms/etc. Good luck.

We will be having tryouts the first week of school and will announce in the jr. high schools (including Providence Hall) the times and locations of tryouts. Cost will be $200 per athlete which will cover the entrance fees for the xsi league, uniforms, officials, and coaching fees.

JV Coach

My name is Coach Jensen but most people call me Co-J for short. I will be coaching the JV team this coming Fall. I can't wait to build Herriman's program with Coach Nicholson and the other assistants because we have very similar coaching styles. I believe we will have a very dynamic program and look forward to seeing our team succeed.
For the past three seasons I have coached at Riverton High School. I started out working with the Freshman and then moved up to Sophomore level my second season. As an athlete myself I played outside hitter and enjoy the intensity of a hard hitting and well fought game.
I teach all Psychology classes including: AP, Sports, Psych. 1 and Psych. 2. I currently live in Ogden and people think I'm crazy for making the commute, but the drive is worth it for the great people I associate with here in Herriman! I am also coaching the Sophomore Basketball Team starting this winter. GO MUSTANGS!

Hello! My name is Lexi Atkinson. I will be coaching the Sophomore/Freshman team this coming Fall. I am excited to be working with Coach Nich and Peterson.

I have played volleyball for over 6 years. I played High School ball for Riverton High for four years and played on a traveling club team for Club Utah and Club Summit. I have played outside, right side and spent my senior year of high school playing libero.

I'm currently teaching P.E. at Providence Hall Elementary and I'm also working on my degree in secondary education at Utah Valley University. I recently married the love of my life, Jordan Atkinson, in January.

I can't wait to start the season. Go Mustangs!!!

Assistant Coach

Hello! My name is Jenny Petersen. I will be coaching the Freshman/Sophmore Volleyball team this upcoming fall! I played for Coach Nicholson in the past at Riverton High School. I am excited to be coaching with Coach Nich because he's a great player, a great coach, and overall a great person. He will lead the Herriman Volleyball team to huge success.

When playing at Riverton, I specialized in defense playing Libero. I love the game, hard work, and determination.

Currently, I am a student at Utah Valley University. In the fall I will be doing my student teaching with Mr. Barnes in Health. I am excited to start teaching and coaching. I have been just married over a year now to my wonderful husband Jared and we have a cute dog named Chubs. He's just a year as well.

Head Varsity Coach Profile

Bryan Nicholson is in his 11th year of coaching girl's volleyball. This is the second season of Mustang Volleyball. Prior to starting the new program at Herriman High School, Coach Nicholson handled the junior varsity duties and assisted with the varsity program at Riverton High School for four seasons. Prior to moving back to Utah, Coach Nicholson held two Head Varsity Volleyball positions in Aberdeen, Idaho and Jerome, Idaho. In college, Coach Nicholson played for two seasons for Utah State University as an outside hitter.

Coach Nicholson teaches Physical Education and resides in Herriman with his wife Karee and their two boys (Kutter -age 8 and Dax-age 3). Coach Nicholson is also a track and field coach/enthusiast and has been coaching track and field for as long as he's been coaching volleyball.
